Social ME-dia

Hi folks! Only me again. While I'm sat watching Loose Women and my testicles are being doused in a cup of cold water (don't ask - it's a strange skin condition) I thought I'd let the world know -through this blog - about a new thought I've had that will help you understand people and Web 2.0:

Social ME-dia!!!!

If you want to use this term in future blog post, please make sure you reference me. Okthanksbye

I’ve been a naughty little monkey

I thought I had cracked this social media thing, but it turns out I haven’t been playing nice with the PR community since I burst onto the PR and social media scene.

In fact, I received a very nice email with some good advice:
You’re meant to be building relationships, not breaking them down. Creating adversaries so early in your career – especially a career where on and offline word of mouth is key – will most certainly do you more harm than good in the long run.

I’ve been a naughty little monkey indeed. So let me take this opportunity to say that if I have publicly insulted anyone, then I am sorry. Navigating the egos, hot air and drivel from self-styled influencers is truly a minefield and I got it wrong. This social media stuff isn’t as easy as it looks!

The truth is, I look up to so many of you in the PR community. So let’s start fresh, with a new more humble and subtle Sean376. Let’s call me Sean376 2.0.

Last night's PR Week report - My View

Wow what a night PR Week must’ve been last night! I say “must’ve been” because I wasn’t actually there – I don’t actually work in the PR industry. I’m PR 2.0! (and I haven’t got a job). But what I can do thanks to the wonders of Web 2.0, is SHARE a story and VIDEO! This is what crowd sourcing is about.

PR Weakz (see how I already have the lingo @EdelmanHR?) has already got the video so instead of making you visit the site, I’ve literally COPIED and PASTED it below. It’s like it is actually my content! How great is the future?!

Hopefully I’ll see you all next year when me and whichever agency I choose to join is picking up awards. Come say hi!

Up t'PIT! HOVIS!!!!!!!!

Thanks for making me feel so welcome!

What a day!

From being rejected for a beer by @twathoang and his ‘real friends’ to being a trending topic on Twitter(1) - I’ve finally made my mark on the UK social media 'scene'(2).

[note: @EdelmanHR, give us a job]

Just look at what the Twitterati have said:
  • @Bencotton (Who is so brilliantly ahead of the curve, he’s got his Obama avatar ready for the NEXT general election!)
  • @ChrisReed (Ginger, glasses. Enough said.)
  • @litmanlive (Hero; needs no introduction.)
  • @Jedhallam (The catalyst for my new found fame due to his boner-inducing insights into how he interacts with his friends through social media. Must read stuff here folks.)
  • @Maxicom (Some say he has a punchable face, but I say he’s completely ZANY! Look at that eyebrow. Mad!)
  • @mynameisearl (Like the TV show! Get it!)
  • @wadds (Compere extraordinaire... with no hair.)
  • @benayers (He has the social media X Factor, whatever that might be)
These people have a combined following of about 100,000 people, at least. Have you ever even met so many people? Didn’t think so.

Their kind words are definitely going in my LinkedIn profile. Right next to the section where I try and make out that being in a band is a real job.

Right, off t’shop to buy me some Hovis!!! (then Loose Women before spending the rest of the day harassing/hitting on @EdelmanHR).

Yorkshire! Yorkshire!

Fuck yeah, first post!

You probably know me as @Sean376, a PR graduate now living in London.

Last year I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University (2.1 bitches!) and I've been on the social media scene for some time now. I'm currently writing (blogging! oh snap!) the next chapter of my meteoric rise to social media superstardom.

I know what you are saying: 'Blogging was invented, like, 10 years ago, where have you been?' Well, that was just a warm up.

So watch and learn because Blogging starts now.
